ReGeneration Corps USVI is a youth leadership and hands-on education program for students in grades 8–11. The program blends classroom learning, land laboratory experiences, and community service to help youth explore solutions to climate change, food security, and environmental health. Students meet twice a month at the Florence Williams Public Library, the Peace International Compound, and across the island—on farms, in forests, near waterways, and in cultural spaces—connecting local knowledge with scientific practice. Transportation will be coordinated for monthly field visits.
Participating students gain experience in regenerative agriculture, conservation, ecosystem restoration, and entrepreneurship, while also building teamwork and problem-solving skills. Along the way, students engage with local farmers, cultural practitioners, environmental experts, and peers across the country. Student teams will also compete in the St. Croix Envirothon Competition in May.
ReGeneration Corps is designed to prepare youth not only for college and careers, but also to contribute to a more resilient Virgin Islands—by practicing solutions, developing confidence, and understanding their role in sustaining healthy communities and ecosystems.
This program is being offered free of charge to students in the St. Croix District for the 2025-2026 school year, thanks to a shared grant with the Vermont Conservation District’s ReGeneration Corps. In future years, this program will expand to serve the St. Thomas/St. John District.
The Envirothon is the world’s largest high school environmental science competition. Each year, students from across the U.S., Canada, China, and beyond test their skills in:
Teams rotate through outdoor field stations to complete hands-on tests and then together deliver an oral presentation offering solutions to the 2026 Current Issue Topic. As part of the ReGeneration Corps, local students will train in all five Envirothon categories using field kits and regional case studies. By the end of the program, each student team will compete in the St. Croix Envirothon, presenting their research and recommendations to a panel of judges. The winning team will be eligible to represent the Virgin Islands at the International Envirothon competition in July 2026, joining peers from around the world in tackling global environmental challenges.
